by Dorothee Sophie Royal
Let us place
our children
in other arms
let go
of air,
press palms
together
and open
the water,
door
of our eyes –
grab seaweed
like stories
and watch
our hair uncurl
and rise
in waves
become
deeper green
away from sound
away from mouths
swallow emerald
whole
unruly, round.
