by Christine Yurick
Don’t travel some place new.
Don’t fall in love with someday,
Fall in love with every day.
Don’t fly, walk. Walk
Like your life depends on it.
Find a place that you love
And buy a house. Make it
Exactly as you want it.
When you see someone
Who is young and vibrant,
Let them be young and vibrant.
Don’t get grumpy.
Accept the fact that
You made it this far.
Appreciate mornings.
When you want to learn
Something new,
Learn who you are. Don’t
Dive off a cliff. Dive
Into your own life.
And please,
Stop watching the news.
Christine Yurick is the founding editor of Think Journal. Her chapbook At the End of the Day and Other Poems is available from Kelsay Books. Christine Yurick looks at her life in wonder: the short, cold winter days – the wood stove, the creeks and woods; the long sunny summer days – the sailing, the sky, the flowers; always the birds, ever changing.
